→ ViRM EMUs

System management and integration activities for ETCS Level 2 on-board systems on retrofit VIRM vehicles intended for operation in the Netherlands.

Responsibilities:

– Cooperation with the customer on the realization of customer-specific requirements

– Design reviews

– Requirements management and tender evaluation

– Integration of the national system STM-ATB into the ETCS on-board system


2014 – 2018:

The scope of work encompassed integration of ETCS Level 2 system on the vehicles for the authorization in the Netherlands.

Scope of work:

– Test management and participation in field runs

– Interoperability testing at the ProRail lab (Amersfoort)

– Data analysis and V&V responsibilities

– Lead for train-to-track integration of prototype systems

Passenger corridors:

– Amsterdam – Rotterdam – Breda → High Speed Line, ETCS Level 2

– Lelystad – Zwolle → Hanzelijn, ETCS Level 2

– Amsterdam – Utrecht → ETCS Level 2

– Roosendaal – Essen (NL–BE) → Conventional line, ATB, TBL1+

Cargo corridors:

– Rotterdam – Zevenaar → A15 corridor, ETCS Level 2

– Maasvlakte – Havenspoorlijn → Havenspoorlijn, ETCS Level 1

 

Project results:

Inter-city service between Amsterdam and Brussels were cut by half an hour on April 9, when trains were re-routed to run via the entire length of HSL South in the Netherlands and Belgium’s high-speed Line 4.
